I've got to disagree with Captain Ed here. In no way, shape or form should a candidate for the Supreme Court of the United States be proposed primarily on the basis of his or her sex or ethnicity. The best candidate is the one with the best credentials. Period. Anything else is an insult to the position and the solemnity of the Court.

I completely agree with you. Frankly, I don't think SEX or ETHNICITY should be considered at all. Get the person best for the job...

No arguments here. We are so worried about making sure the numbers are "correct" that we have stopped looking for the best candidate for the job.
