Following in the tradition of the blog novella, here's a story in three parts. Damn fine writing, folks, from three of my favorite reads! (In fact, it's the kind of writing that grips you by the throat in the first three words and doesn't let go until the ride is over. And what a ride it is.)

Thanks, Leslie. We put it together as a compilation of our experiences, but not as fiction. I wish that I could express how much of our time is spent in deep boredom, though, doing reports, charts, or just waiting for the call. Occasions like that are part part of the job, but they are admitedly the exception to the routine.
I really thank you for your compliment on the writing; I struggle to keep up with Ambulance Driver and BabsRN.
