I keep getting flashes from an old movie where Voodoo dolls kill people.

Oh, hell, yeah!
I believe this would be good cognitive therapy, and assist Eric in overcoming his fear of zombies. Then, of course, he'll probably use it for a buttplug. But what ya gonna do?
I can see the resemblence. Hell, it looks almost like one of those little troll dolls we used to see back in the day... Straigh White Troll... a ring to it no?
