I reckon the more things change the more they stay the same. Back in the sixties it was the music that celebrated the drugs-LSD-Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds, and Spiing Wheel and several other of the most popular songs were about drugs-kids knew it but parents didn't.

And you are correct-playing catch with a hand grenade does tend to clean up the gene pool.
