Re: Supernovae -- There is some scientific suspicion that radiation and particles from supernovae may have denuded poor Earth a time or two in the past, and otherwise fucked with the climate. The cockroaches don't care, but I'm happy to know that Alpha Centauri is not massive enough to do the deed.
