This is really sad, as panleukopenia is totally preventable through regular vaccination. How do I know? My cat club has been dedicated to feline health and welfare... and educating the public about feline health issues... for a long time. Love your pet? Then vaccinate, dammit!

UPDATE: The Cat Fanciers' Association is providing disaster assistance in the aftermath of Hurricane Charley. Pam Delabar, a CFA Board Member, and a frequent disaster rescue volunteer, says, "Why money instead of supplies??? We usually end up with more food and litter than can be used - and if a shelter needs a generator in order to provide relief for animals in disaster, then we can get the generator, etc." And the CFA website notes that they are rescuing everything from hamsters to horses.
